Ed's Birthday Card

I made this card a long time ago, when this stamp set first came out in the Holiday mini catalog last year. I made the background paper with post it notes and a brayer and then stamped and embossed the medallion on top of it and also stamped the swirls from Baroque Motifs on the bottom piece. If you look real closely you can see the smallest pearl right in the middle. The Wild Wasabi is embossed with the lines ef. The card got a lot of admiring on Sunday when I gave it to Ed my brother in law for his birthday.

Here is the inside of the card, I always like to put some kind of lighter card stock inside when I'm using a dark color for the base of the card. It makes it so much easier for the recipient to read the message and sort of ties everything together.
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place.

Stamping 411 Challenge 227

I designed this card using the Stamping 411 challenge sketch #227. The sketch is very simple so it went together fairly quickly. I wanted to use fall colors, and this will be sent as a birthday card later this month. I am happy with how it turned out but I am not thrilled with the picture. I used glitter on the medallion and it hardly shows up, if you look really closely you can tell it's there but it sparles so nicely in real life I wish you could see it. You can tell that I also added glitter to the centers of the pattern on the designer paper.
I first inked the main stamp up with daffodil then sponged pumpkin around it and last sponged the olive on the outside. I stamped it on white cs and cut it out with paper snips. They are  great. Everything else is self explanatory I think but if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.
Thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place.

Third 3"x3" Card

And finally the third card that fits into the pizza box. I like each one better than the last one. I got these ideas from Regional Seminar right from Stampin' Up. I modified them a little to fit my needs.
Crumb Cake cs was used for the base 3" x 6" folded in half. I took a piece of Whisper White cs 3" x 3" and stamped the tri flower 3 times in Wild Wasabi and the Thank You in Chocolate Chip. Then I tore the top off to give it some texture and attached it to the card base. I added a piece of Chocolate Chip 1/4" grosgain ribbon and right underneath that I added a border of So Saffron Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border made with the punch of the same name. These cards were fun and easy to make and I can't wait to see the face of the happy recipient of them when I give them to her. She will love them.
As always if there are any questions or if something isn't clear let me know by leaving a comment.

Second 3"x3" card

This is the second card in my series of three cards that fit in the pizza box. What a set this is shaping up to be. Each one holds it's own richness.

This card started with a base of Old Olive 3" x 6" folded in half. Then stamped with the Day of Gratitude medallion in Old Olive. I inked the leaf in More Mustard and the rolled it in Cajun Craze for richness and depth, and stamped the acorn in early Espresso on Very Vanilla cs and snipped them both out with the Paper Snips, wow they are sharp and have that pointy end so you can really get into some tight spots. Which is good. Stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso and attach the acorn to the leaf and attach them both to the card with dimensionals. That's it. All the supplies are in the instructions, If you have any questions or something isn't clear leave me a comment and I will get back to you.

First 3"x3" Card

This little card packs a whale of a punch in color and richness. I love the combination of Wild Wasabi and Cajun Craze. This card fits neatly into the pizza box I posted the other day. One of three I will be sharing with you. If someone has been especially nice to you or helpful this year why not give them this box of cards as a Thank You from you and they can use them to thank others.
Card base in Cajun Craze measures 3" x 6" folded in half. Then the very vanilla panel is 2 3/4" square and stamped with Day of Gratitude medallion in Wild Wasabi and the tri flower in Cajun Craze right over the top. the panel of very vanilla stamped with Thank You from Thank You Kindly set in Cajun Craze is 3/4" x 3". and the corduroy button can be purchased on the clearance rack. It was a crumb cake button until I gave it a bath in Cajun Craze ink so it would match my card. Simple but elegant.
Supplies are all listed in the instructions up above so if you have any questions let me know by leaving a comment here. Thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place.

4 square leaves

Hello there. I had a technique class and taught how to make this card. There were four other projects as well and I will share them with you. This is so easy I almost can't blieve it but like anything else until you know the trick on how to get those windows straight and just where you want them it's a mystery.

I am away from home right now so I am not able to do pictures for you but I will tell you how to do this.

  • First get a piece of card stock ready for the window panel. Mine measures 4 5/8" x 3 3/8" in very vanilla

  • Then out of scrap card stock, using the 1 3/8" square punch, punch 4 squares out. They can be any color, they will eventually be thrown away.

  • Using dotto or snail glue arrange these 4 squares on your first panel to form your windows. Line them up nice and straight just where you want them.

  • Then take your square punch again and punch through the card stock panel right where the squares are.

That's it; you should have a panel of card stock with 4 beautifully lined up squares punched out for windows ready to be filled with whatever little goodies you have. In this case a pretty little leaf from Day of Gratitude set found in the mini holiday catalog, stamped in four rich colors then snipped out with the paper snips.

There is also a panel of more mustard card stock 3 3/4" x 5 and then a smaller 3 1/2" square right on top of that for the backing behind the windows. Then attach the window panel with dimensionals, add the leaves with dimensionals and the sentiment and bow. The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and then punched out with the largest oval punch. and attached using mono adhesive. This allows you a few seconds to position that piece perfectly before it dries. Make the bow by folding the ribbon into a bow and wrap the legs of the brad around the middle to secure it. Use a glue dot to adhere it to the card.

It's another great card. Here is the supply list

Some New Cards

Hi everyone, When Stampin' Up came out with the new catalog on July 1 I was very excited and still am. This is the best one yet. Of course I keep saying that but it is true, they work very hard to give us all the very best products out there. And you get wonderful demonstrators showing you how to best use these products.

When the Holiday Mini Catalog came out Sept 1 I had to have one set in particular. The Day of Gratitude set. Wow, I love that medallion. You can do so much with it. It's the perfect size and it lines up with several other products. Like the lattice die cut. It's just beautiful. And the top note with a twist featured on the card here.

I have here a card I cased from Mary Fish, she is amazing, and so talented. Her card can be found here. I changed up a couple of things like the jumbo brad very vanilla in the center of the felt flower and just one button. I used a real thin strip of very vanilla card stock for the "thread"

If you like what you see here please leave me a comment so I know that you stopped by. Also, any suggestions would be great, please do them in a sensitive way.

What I have done here is used the rock and roll technique. You ink up the stamp in one color, usually the lighter color ink, then in a darker ink, roll the stamp and ink just around the edge to give it some definition.

Here is a closeup shot.

Thanks for stopping by at Paula's Place. Hope to see you again real soon.
