Clive's Basketball

My Grand nephew turned 8 a couple weeks ago and he loves Micheal Jordan so I thought he would appreciate a basketball card. It was simple to make. I Cut a large circle with circle scissors out of tangerine tango card stock. Then I drew the lines, first with pencil then with black marker. and stamped the HB sentiment. Then ran it through the Big Shot with the perfect polka dots ef. I attached it to a card that I made with the scallop circle Bigz die with the fold down a little from the top so I would have a card that would open. I was very happy with how it turned out. He liked it a lot.

Stamping 411 Challenge SSC258 Round not Square

Every Friday night Stamping 411 puts up it's Saturday Sketch challenge. Usually I start thinking about what I'm going to do right away but I have a lot of things going on right now. Other projects keeping me very busy so today I finally got to really look at what the sketch was about and finally an idea really just popped into my head. I have been wanting to make a circle shaped card and I knew I wanted daisies on it. Several weeks ago on splitcoaststampers the inkling was making shaped cards and I used that technique here. After I put together the white circle with the daffodil delight dsp and the regal rose scallop I was afraid running it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder would ruin the look but it just enhanced it. I think adding the little green leaves was just the final touch to really set off the pink flowers. I am thrilled with the way this card turned out. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place and taking a look.

Christmas Card Stamping 411 Challenge 214

Here is one of my cards for Stamping 411 challenge 214. I'm not sure I like how it turned out, it was a little different in my mind but it's allright. I used the medallion from Artistic Etchings for the background, Greeting Card Kids was used for the main image panel, and Contempo Christmas provides the sentiment. The measurements are as follows:
  1. Layer One – Card Base cut at 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded
  2. Layer Two – 4 x 5.25”
  3. Layer Three – Die Cut Scallop circle #2 the larger one
  4. Layer Four – 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch
  5. Layer Five – Scallop Oval Punch
I used glossy white card stock on this one. Very easy to color in the little girl and the color of the stamped images are much more intense. Some of the details easily missed in the picture are the paper piercing around the green scallops, the basic rhinestones on the medallion to the right of the image and the rhinestone brad in red around the ribbon.
Let me know what you think of this one. and thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place.

Jar of Nuts with card

This is a picture of the jar of Swedish nuts that I gave our preacher's family on Sunday. Sue, wife of preacher, gave us a beautiful big tray of homemade cookies and candies. She makes like 200 dozen cookies each year and gives them away. We are fortunate to be on the receiving end of that. I thought it would be nice to give a little back this year. They are tasty and easy to make.

  • The lid was decorated with Real Red striped ribbon (retired) but on the clearance rack, attached with sticky strip.
  • I used the large scallop circle from the #2 circle die in garden green.
  • Then cut out a 1 3/4" whisper white circle using the circle scissors. Love that thing
  • Then punched a real red scallop circle with the 2 3/8'" scallop circle extra large punch
  • I attached a snowflake, also from the clearance rack, with a round fire brad. From the bundles that were available last month. What great deals.
  • I pierced holes in all the scallops and sort of bent the green ones over the side of the lid.
  • I attached the circle with Mono adhesive.
  • TIP: If you use mono adhesive to put things together you have a few seconds to move things around to get them just right and once it is dry, boy does it ever stick good.
  • The jar is reused from Smucker's Natural peanut butter. My husband eats a jar a week so next year I am going to save a lot more and give these as gifts. I only made two this year but I am real happy with the results.
  • Here is the recipe for Swedish Nuts, I got this from my friend Karen. She is a great cook.
  • Preheat oven to 225 degrees
  • 1 lb. nuts (4 c. pecans + 1 1/4 c almonds)
  • /2 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • Toss nuts with egg whites and water. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix. Bake on cookie sheet stirring every 15 min. for one hour.
