Split Rock

You may think that I split the rock behind me with that stick I am holding on to but I didn't do it. It was like that when I got here.

My husband and I had such a great time in Arizona in January hiking around. We love to do that and then in the evening go sit in the hot tub. What a life. I am so blessed. We saw some incredible sights and even had a snow storm chase us our last day out. I think it just wanted to say good bye to us. That was freaky. Well, now it's back to reality, as much as my life gets there. So I will be posting some more cards I have been busy stamping and already sending so I hope my pictures are good.

Here are just a few more pictures from our trip .

This is Devil's Bridge, those two crazy people out there on it are my children.

Coffee Pot rock in the back ground, Brock, my son in the foreground.

There they are, Brock and Cindy. It was very cool that we got to get together with both of them at the same time, in a really fun place. Cindy lives in Nashville and Brock lives just outside of DC.

Cathedral Rock, We hiked up to it and then went up to the saddle, wow.

There are many more but this is a small sample of what we did while we were away. God gave us a fantastic earth to explore and we are doing as much as we can. Love it.

Birthday Valentine

Hey there, glad you stopped by and here is another card/box I did for my grand niece. I know that Valentine's day is already past but if you like this you can get a real early start on next year or use this style for another occasion. Anniversary maybe. This was made with the Love you bunch stamp set and retired dsp, but you may have some of that paper hanging around too just like I did. I used the heart to heart punch also. Very vanilla card stock. Valentine for Beth

I know, I know, it's been forever since I last posted. Well, I was on vacation for the month of January. I will share some pictures of where Bob and I went and what we did. But for today I want to share this cute card with you that I sent to my sister. She lives way out in the state of Oregon and I wish she was closer but I try to keep in touch with our wonderful handmade cards. I hope she liked it.

What I did was use heart to heart punch to get all those cute little hearts and then I stamped the dotted heart from I Heart Hearts and cut it out with my trusty paper snips, it went really fast and they are very sharp. I used my new pinking hearts border punch to put a nice edge on the turquoise dsp and the real red piece and then with the fabulous phrases I thought heartfelt was the perfect sentiment.

First Birthday Card of the Year

Tomorrow is our friend Chuck's Birthday. He's 76 years old and I think this will make him long for spring. He is an avid golfer and this reminds me of a spot on the golf course. I hope he likes it. I cased this card from Julie Buhler and her blog is Paper Pleasing Ideas I love the blogging world and all the sharing that takes place. I wouldn't know half of what I know about stamping if it wasn't for all the wonderful stampers out there sharing all their great ideas and projects.

One Minute Card For Christmas

It's getting really close to Christmas now. Do you need a couple of last minute cards? This one is easy but makes a nice impact. It's simple yet elegant and doesn't look like it was made in a big hurry. I used a retired hostess set and a current set to put this together. Stamping 411 Challenge 232 Christmas

Here is a very clean and simple design. It is also an example of what you can do with what you have. I was looking for stamps that were delicate that would make a nice motif when stamped repeatedly and I found an older set called Memory of the Heart. It was a Sale a bration set many years ago. I still like how the lines curve and feather, just what I was looking for. I used the stamp-a-majig to line things up just so and it came out just like I wanted. Then I used the sentiment stamp from Holiday Collection and inked up the words with markers. The ribbon is retired a long time ago also. Then to keep it up to date I dry embossed the red card base with the Big Shot and my favorite embossing folder Vintage Wallpaper. Thanks for stopping by to take a look At Paula's Place

Ed's Birthday Card

I made this card a long time ago, when this stamp set first came out in the Holiday mini catalog last year. I made the background paper with post it notes and a brayer and then stamped and embossed the medallion on top of it and also stamped the swirls from Baroque Motifs on the bottom piece. If you look real closely you can see the smallest pearl right in the middle. The Wild Wasabi is embossed with the lines ef. The card got a lot of admiring on Sunday when I gave it to Ed my brother in law for his birthday.

Here is the inside of the card, I always like to put some kind of lighter card stock inside when I'm using a dark color for the base of the card. It makes it so much easier for the recipient to read the message and sort of ties everything together.

Stamping 411 Chalenge 231

Hello everyone. Here is another challenge card for Stamping 411. This was a hard one for me because I like my life to be symetrical and this is definitely not. But I'm glad I did it, I felt like I was struggling through it but when I see my finished card, I love it. I couldn't find the background paper I wanted so I made my own. Then I incorporated the splitcoaststampers tutorial for the week into it. It's called spirelli. Here's the tutorial on that. My first attempt. I tried to add a sentiment but nothing looked right so I decided to just leave well enough alone. Let me know what you think.

The background was done with two shades of blue, direct to paper, then sponged with the bashful blue all over to soften and even it out. The snow flake is from merry details sizzlit die and is really sparkly.

Stamping 411 Challenge #230

Here's another sketch challenge from Stamping 411. I love their ideas and layouts, they are so helpful. Of course I chose to do another Christmas card. I really like this one, I hope you do too.

The ornament was sort of a mistake saved. I had used the vintage wallpaper ef on glossy card stock and then brayered wild wasabi onto the raised part of it. But the color was bad. It turned darker than I wanted it on that glossy paper. So I flipped it over and brayered the wasabi ink on the background and the white is depressed. Then I punched out the ornament shape and filled in the white with glitter and my 2 way glue.

Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge 229

I am really gearing up my Christmas Card making now. Every challenge is going to be Christmas. I can hardly believe next week is Thanksgiving so times a tickin'. This is the season for the paper crafter. We live for the holidays because we send so many cards at this time of year. I used to make one design of card but now I have a tendency to make a variety of them. It's fun and there are so many possibilities.

This card features Mrs. Claus. She is very easy to make and I dressed her up with her red pearl earrings, sending a cheery sentiment from the stamp set Seasonal Sentiments. If you are interested in how to Mrs. Claus see below.

Stamping 411 Challenge 228

Thanks to all the Operators over at Stamping 411 for choosing my card to be featured in the stamper's showcase. You all are wonderful and I appreciate all your hard work.

Here is the Stamping 411 sketch challenge 228 for this week. I love going over there and checking out what everyone else is doing with these but mostly I appreciate all their hard work to come up with these sketches which gives me someplace to start. To want to make a card and start with a blank sheet of card stock it makes it infinately easier if you have a direction to go. There are endless possibilities out there so we have to have somewhere to start. The sketches they provide do this for us. Then we just add the stamps and ink and things come together so great.

Look at it like this. You have 2 yards of fabric. It's laying on a table flat ready to be made into something. You wouldn't start randomly cutting on that fabric and hope something nice comes out of it. You get a pattern, whether it's for an apron, a pair of pants, a dress, a jacket, whatever it is you want to make you use the correct pattern, you lay it out on the fabric and cut it out accordingly. Same with card making. If we start with a sketch, or pattern, it makes it go a lot easier.

I combined the sketch with the color inspiration challenge 164. I smooch sprayed the ornament, which is hard to see in the photo, after I ran it through the Big shot with the petals-a-plenty ef. I used markers and blender pen to color the image which was stamped with stazon ink. I sponged the sky then used 2 way glue pen to apply the dazzling diamonds glitter. So it really sparkles. The little snowflake was cut with the Northern Frost strip die. I think everything else is pretty obvious. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place

Stamping 411 Challenge 227

I designed this card using the Stamping 411 challenge sketch #227. The sketch is very simple so it went together fairly quickly. I wanted to use fall colors, and this will be sent as a birthday card later this month. I am happy with how it turned out but I am not thrilled with the picture. I used glitter on the medallion and it hardly shows up, if you look really closely you can tell it's there but it sparles so nicely in real life I wish you could see it. You can tell that I also added glitter to the centers of the pattern on the designer paper.

I first inked the main stamp up with daffodil then sponged pumpkin around it and last sponged the olive on the outside. I stamped it on white cs and cut it out with paper snips. They are great. Everything else is self explanatory I think but if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

Halloween Sour Cream Containers

That just doesn't sound right but that is what I made for my five little grand nieces, only the containers weren't that little because I wanted to put a bunch of candy into them so I made them big. I took a picture of all of them and then each one seperately so you could see them up close. They go together very quickly and the crimping is my favorite part. It makes them look so professionally done. And these can be made for any holiday, just change out the designer paper and the tags and there you go. Birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc....

I started with a 6" square of paper and here are the instructions. Instead of sticky strip I used the Tombow mono adhesive or as I like to call it the green glue. Not that the glue is green just the container. The girls loved them and I made them in all their favorite colors so they were really happy. I was able to put about 7 or 8 pieces of candy in each one. Halloween Zindorf Style

Several weeks ago we had a chance to go visit our daughter who lives in Nashville. We had great fun and I gave her the card found here. My son lives in Maryland going to othe university of MD there so I needed a scary card to send him.

This is my interpretation of the card by Michelle Zindorf. She gives the entire tutorial for making a similar card called "Going Batty" I just adapted it to the stamps I have.

By the way the previous post which can be found here won me a spot in the Stamping 411 Operator's pick's stampers showcase. It's always so encouraging to get selected and also to read the comments that are left on my blog. I read and reread them, they mean so much to me. Challenge Stamping 411 #226

Okay, it's getting serious now. It's the end of October and I have to get going on my Christmas Cards. What are you doing this year? I would love to hear from each of you about your ideas for Christmas cards. What stamp sets are you using, dsp? Things like that.

This card went together very fast. I used the blossom petals builders punch for the petals of the flower and the leaves. I punched a scrap piece of card stock with the 1 1/4" circle punch to glue all the petals to and after the flower was constructed I sprayed it with smooch spray. The center is a 3/4" circle of brushed golf cs with the basic pearls put on it. The dsp is from last year Jolly Holiday dsp I think is what it was called. I also used the Dotted scallop ribbon border punch on old olive cs for my ribbon element. I love that punch, turns any card stock into a ribbon and it's flat for mailing.

A pack of dsp really goes a long way. I had a class using this paper and made several cards and still have six sheets that aren't even cut yet. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs. The colors are Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive with Very Vanilla

Stamping 411 chllenge 225

I know it's been a while since I blogged but I'm hoping this card makes up for it. I am back from my trip to Nashville and stamping again. Being away always makes me want to get back to start stamping again. Over at Stamping 411 this week they have a wonderful sketch for everyone to start with and they give measurements for the different layers too so putting a card together is fairly easy. I love how this rose just pops off the page, it's probably one of the last roses we'll see for a while. It's getting cold here. Let me know if you have any questions

Halloween for my DD

If you have been following my blog for a while you know that I got to go to a Michelle Zindorf class just a year ago.I loved it and learned her technique on how to brayer cards. What I also learned was not to be afraid of heavily sponging and color. I cased this card from her website but added glitter, dazzling diamonds, to the witches shoes. So I think this might look like a snapshot right after Dorothy's house fell on the wicked witch of the east before the slippers transferred to Dorothy's feet. My daughter and I went to a screening of the movie, The Wizard of Oz, where people dress up like the characters and everyone sings the songs along with the movie. We had a great time so she will appreciate this card when I give it to her for Halloween. We are with her in Nashvill for a couple of days so I get to give it to her in person. That is a double thrill for me. Of course there will be a little treat in it for her. It was actually very easy to make. Here is the link to Michelle's Blog. She has a great step by step tutorial. Stamping 411 Challenge 222

I just realized that this fits the stamping 411 challenge 222 just perfectly. The oval is changed to the ornate note and the little object is flipped to the other side and I made mine a bird. This is a little out of my comfort zone because of the intricate cutting but I have to tell you it went really fast. I would say no more than 2 minutes to hand cut around the scroll work and the bird. I used the rock n roll technique on the bird to pull the two colors together which are Pacific Point and the new In Color for 2011 and 2012 Pool Party. Thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place

A Bossom Party Set

A while ago I posted this card so you have seen that before but my great niece had a birthday party today so I wanted to give her a box that went along with that card. I made a matching Top Note Box that flips open. I forgot to take a picture of it open but I can direct you to Angie Kennedy Juda's website where she has a video of how to make this box. And before you go I have to say I used the Simply Scored to make this and did it so fast I almost couldn't believe it. There is no learning curve with it at all. Just take it out of the box and apply card stock and score. Wow I love it. The stylus is great, slides right over the card stock and it seemed very easy to stay in the channel I was using, no skipping. This is a wonderful tool. Stamping 411 challenge 220

When I finished this card I realized that it is very appropriate for fall. I am happy with how this turned out. The sketches over at Stamping 411 sure do help when putting a card together and coupled with the Color Coach it's just down right simple.

Here are the measurements:

Layer One -- Cardstock cut at 5.5 x 8.5", scored and folded to make your Card Base
Layer Two -- DSP cut at 4 x 5.25". Trim again at 2", reverse the pattern and use both sides of the DSP. Separate with a ribbon or strip of cardstock or paper.
Layer Three -- Cardstock cut at 3.75 "x 2.5"
Layer Four -- DSP cut at 3.5" x 2.25" -- embellish with a circular or other shape -- add brads, to the corners.

The Difference between brayering and Sponging

The other day I posted a card similar to the one here. But this one was sponged and the other one was brayered. I'm talking about the way the cherry ink was applied to the poinsettia background. As you can see when it was sponged on the ink gets into the white background and turns pink, which has it's own nice look but for a crisp clean look using the brayer is much better. A Thank You Quilt

A woman I met at quilt group, Marcia, asked me to go along with her to Mad City Quilt group, Well, of course I said yes, and we went on Tuesday. I had a good time and saw about 50 quilts, mostly from the speaker but they had show and tell so there were about 15 women that shared projects that they have been working on, what fun.

A Small Christmas Card

It's been a week since I posted, sorry. My mom got her new knee at the end of August and I have been going to see her more than normal. She is doing fine and will be coming home on Saturday. This is her fourth knee replacement. Let me explain. She is 83 years old, she got her first in 1976, then her second in 1982. That one lasted 11 years, third replacement 1993. fourth, 3rd in the right knee, now. She is doing well and healing so fast especially for her age. Things have changed so much, she was in the hospital only 3 days.

Okay, now for the card. I saw this technique on splitcoaststampers. It's where you run the card stock through the Big Shot with an embossing folder, in this case petals a plenty, then a brayer is run over the top of the card and hits just the raised parts. Just have a light touch so you don't get any into the lower parts. Some practice may be required. It is so much more intense and precise than sponging. I really like the look.

This card measures 4" x 4" so you can get 4 of them out of a piece of 12' x 12" card stock with one piece of 4" x 4" left for punching. The white cs is 3 3/4" square. The flower was explained here.

Everything else is self explainatory I think.

Another Christmas Card design

Several weeks ago I started making Christmas Cards, I am going to post them as I complete them so here's another one that I came up with. I love the dry embossed poinsettias in the background with the stark contrast of the cherry flower against the white. It seems to pop off the card. This is a very easy card to make, the hardest part is waiting for the smooch spray to dry on the flower so the rest of the card can be assembled.

The base of the card is cherry cobbler 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded in half.
Then I took a piece of white card stock 4 x 3 1/4" and ran it through the Big Shot with the petals a plenty ef.
The flower is made by using the 5 petal flower punch. I used the paper snips to cut into the center a little bit more between each of the petals and then did an embossing line right down the middle of each petal and leaf. I then folded each petal and gave it a good pinch. I used stickles in gold for the 3 dots in the center then sprayed them with smooch spray and let them dry overnight.
The old olive piece 4 x 2" is stamped with the sentiment in cherry cobler ink.
The dsp is Jolly Holiday (retired). 1 1/8" piece on top and a 1" piece on the bottom both punched with the scallop trim border punch.
Then a strip of cherry cobbler cs punched with the dotted ribbon border punch and adhered to the seam.

Stamping 411 challenge 218

Here is the card that I made for the stamping 411 challenge this week. The sketch is really helpful when putting a card together, it practically makes itself. CLick Here to go there. Here is what I did.

Card base is Pacific Point cs 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded in half
Bashful Blue 5 x 3 3/4 stamped with Greenhouse garden in Bashful Blue the Marina Mist
Then I added Paisley Petals dsp 3 3/4 x 2
A 3/4" strip of Marina Mist punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch was added right at the seam
I stamped the sentiment from Tagtastic in Rose Red on whisper white cs then punched it out with the large oval punch and added it with dimensionals
I added the butterflies which were cut out of Rose Red cs with the butterfly Embosslits and adhered them to the card

Quilt out of Lattice Die Green and Pink

Here is the opposite of what I posted yesterday. This one is quilted with the square lattice die so it's a double lattice quilt card. I think this card would be especially nice for a quilter for her birthday but certainly appropriate for anyone celebrating their birthday.

The piece of designer series paper that the lattice was cut out of measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". Then I added a piece of Pretty in Pink on top 3 1/2" x 3/4" and the bottom was 1" wide then punched with the border punch. Adhere all together.

Quilt out of Lattice Die

Wow, this quilting with paper is really fun and fast. I have made 3 quilts now with fabric and they take weeks to complete. A card quilt made with paper and a few supplies takes only minutes. Especially with this lattice die. I ran a piece of dsp through the Big Shot with the lattice die and then flipped the pink lattice section over and this is the result. You have to glue each piece down individually but with 2 way glue it moves only rather quickly. after the glue was dry I did then run it through the Big Shot again with finial press ef. I put a fancy border edge on my card stock and stamped that pretty little sentiment on and my card was done. I didn't want to put too much on the front of this card because I didn't want to take away from the beauty of the quilt itself.

411 Challenge 217 Pink Doilies

Sometimes you just have to flip that sketch. I stamped that big Melon Mambo doily up in the corner then realized that it needed to be opposite my punched image so I just flipped it from the right side to the left. I like it. Do you know what the punched image is? I know it's a cute little flower but are you looking at your punches wondering if you own it? I'll tell you what it is in a minute.

There are two challenges over at Stamping 411 this week. This is the first. Here are the dimensions.

Base: 1 1 x 4 1/4", scored and folded in half at 5 1/2"
Layer 2: 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"
Layer 3: 3x4"
Layer 4: Ribbon or cardstock
Layer 5: ANY shape punch

This is what I did. I scored and folded a piece of Melon Mambo cs 11 x 4 1/4 for the base. Added a piece of dsp from the brights dsp stack in Regal Rose, then a piece of Pink Pirouette was stamped with doilies, the large one in Melon Mambo. the small in Pretty in Pink and the other large one in Pink Pirouette. Then I used the Melon Mambo marker to outline the edge of PP cs to give the illusion of a very small border. Then I adhered it to the dsp. I punched out the glossy white with the dotted scallop ribbon border and ran it through the crimper. Love that thing. It makes it look like real ribbon so you can make ribbon any color that you have in card stock. Then I punched once with the Lace Ribbon Border in Pretty in Pink. Gorgeous. Took the 3/4" circle punch and punched out a perfect little flower from the center. I wanted to back it with the Melon Mambo but the 1/2" circle wasn't quite large enough so I used the flower from the Boho Blossoms punch. It worked great. Added the basic pearl. and that's it.

Ink: Melon Mambo ink pad and marker, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose

Paper: Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Brights Patterns dsp stack, Glossy White

Snowflake challenge 411

Split Rail Quilt Card Tea Party Paper

My friend Janice was the recipient of this card on August 7. That is her birthday and she likes quilts. This was such a fun card to make. Piecing was just like a fabric quilt except 1/100th of the time. I simply cut pieces of coordinating paper 1 1/4" long by 1/2" wide and used two way glue. Glue stick works equally as well. If you look closely you can see three pieces go one way and three go the other way. Always keep the same pattern of laying down the paper the same. In this case the green, then the amethyst, then the flower. I used copy paper as my base as not to get it too think and trimmed the excess off the edges. When it was dry I ran it through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper ef. Added the sentiment. That's it. Any questions let me know. Thanks for stopping by At Paula's Place.

Christmas Card Stamping 411 Challenge 214

Here is one of my cards for Stamping 411 challenge 214. I'm not sure I like how it turned out, it was a little different in my mind but it's allright. I used the medallion from Artistic Etchings for the background, Greeting Card Kids was used for the main image panel, and Contempo Christmas provides the sentiment. The measurements are as follows:

Layer One – Card Base cut at 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded
Layer Two – 4 x 5.25”
Layer Three – Die Cut Scallop circle #2 the larger one
Layer Four – 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch
Layer Five – Scallop Oval Punch

I used glossy white card stock on this one. Very easy to color in the little girl and the color of the stamped images are much more intense. Some of the details easily missed in the picture are the paper piercing around the green scallops, the basic rhinestones on the medallion to the right of the image and the rhinestone brad in red around the ribbon.

2nd Christmas Card

Here it is, similar to the other one but different. I still have quite a bit of the Holly Jolly Chirstmas dsp, which is lovely, but I want you to know that a pack of designer series paper has a lot of paper in them. I have used this for two projects in my classes and lots of personal projects and I still have full sheets. You really get your moneys worth when you get a pack of it.

The poinsettia is the star of this card, the embossed flowers in the background are more subtle because I did nothing to highlight them so the big flower really pops. A simple sentiment and the dotted ribbon border, which turns any cardstock into a ribbon, which I love, it keeps it flat for mailing. Speaking of that, when my husband saw this card he said, how's that going to mail. Beautifully. The flower completeing flattens out and it will slip into an envelope very easily and when your recipient receives it they can leave it like it comes or you could include a little instruction sheet in the card to pinch each leaf for more 3 d effect. These little flowers hold up, they are strong. and they sparkle real nice in real life as they have a coating of smooch spray on them.

I used Stickles for the 3 centers on this but you could use small gold brads, or basic jewels, or even card stock punched out with the smallest of our circle punches 1/16".

First Christmas Card of the Season

Here it is July and I have made my first Christmas Card. I always mean to do this but do I actually do it? Well, yes but not until October or November. I remember the year that we moved from Maryland to Wisconsin on October 25, I thought that year I probably wasn't even going to make Christmas cards at all and that year I managed to stamp 85 cards. I was so happy. This card is a little more involved and since then the Big Shot has come along, I can hardly make a card any more without it. Embossing and die cutting add so much to cards these days.

This is a pretty straight forward card, you can tell what I did by just looking at it, except you may have questions about that pretty little poinsettia. I wish you could see it in person. I sprayed it with smooch spray and it shines so pretty but you know that pictures don't pick that up very well.

The flower is made by using the 5 petal flower punch. I used the paper snips to cut into the center a little bit more between each of the petals and then did an embossing line right down the middle of each petal and leaf. I then folded each petal and gave it a good pinch. I used stickles in gold for the 3 dots in the center then sprayed them with smooch spray and let them dry overnight. I suppose an hour would do fine. Then I assembled the rest of the card.

Stamping 411 Challenge 212

Welcome, I have another 411 challenge sketch for you today. I am loving these. This card has a lot going on but I will try to explain it for you.

First lets talk color. I used for Card Stock and Ink Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White.

The stamp sets I used are Swirls & Curls Verses (hostess, summer mini) and Awash with Flowers.

Accessories are: Blossom Party Bigz die, Little Leaves Sizzlit die, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Top Note Bigz die, Wild Wasabi 1/2" striped grosgain ribbon

Measurements are as follows:

Base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
Layer 2: 5 1/2" x 1 3/4"
Layer 3: 5 1/2" x 1 1/2"
Layer 4: Top Note Die

Layer 5: The happy birthday I stamped on a scrap of WW and cut it down until I liked how it looked. It's about 3" x 1 1/4" then I sponged it with Wild Wasabi and colored in some of the letters. On the panel of flowers I took the Wild Wasabi marker and made little check mark stems.

Friendship Blooms

Hello there. Do you remember this stamp set from a couple of years ago. It's called Friendship Blooms. I loved this set and when I recently saw a similar card on SCS I had to make one more from this great set. My husband was the recipient of this card, actually it was his Father's Day card. He is my very best friend and it doesn't look to girly. The white gel pen really makes this card pop. Without it the card looks sort of nice and normal but the white gives it almost a Scandanavian look.

I used retired card stock for this one. The base is Sage Shadow. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 fold in half

Layer 2 is basic Black 5 1/4 x 4. Layer 3 Baroque Burgundy 5 x 3 3/4 Layer 4 So Saffron6 x 2 3/4 stamped with the large flower from Friendship Blooms in Baroque Burgundy then sponged around the edges. Layer 5 Sage Shadow card stock 4 1/4 x 2 1/4 Layer 6 Basic Black cs 4 1/4 x 2 Layer 7 Baroque Burgundy cs stamped with the flower trio ( I used stampamajig) 4 1/4 x 1 3/4 Layer 8 3/4" piece ofSage Shadow punched with Scallop Border punch on both sides. Layer 9 Rectangle Basic Black cs punched with Scallop Border punch all the way around. Check here for how to do that. Layer 10 Baroque Burgundy cs 2 3/8 x 1 3/8 Layer 11 So Saffron cs 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 stamped with message from Friendship Blooms The flower in the corner is 2 little Leaves die out of Sage Shadow and a Daisy out of So Saffron with a Baroque Burgundy 1/4" circle added to the center.

I did make two of these cards on the other one I added glitter to the flower but not this one for my man. Okay, now add all the dots with your Signo White Gel pen. Just take your time and space them evenly and it goes really quickly. I added three little dots to the corner of the black scallop square. Here we are at another challenge from Stamping 411. I really appreciate the operators over there. They come up with the greatest sketches and keep me inspired to keep creating. This is my favorite sketch so far. Here is what I did.

The base of the card is Melon Mambo. Cut to 4 1/4" wide x 11", scored at 5 1/2"

Then I used the Dotted Ribbon Border Punch on basic black and made instant ribbon, (love that punch)

Layer 2: 3 1/2" square of Newsprint dsp matted with a piece of basic black cs 1/8" larger
Layer 3: 3 x 1 1/4"piece of Newsprint dsp matted with a piece of basic black cs 1/8" larger
Layer 4: I stamped black onto Melon Mambo using one of the frames from Four Frames stamp set. I also stamped onto Melon Mambo using Punch Potpourri stamp set (retired Hostess set) the three flowers. and punched them out with Boho Blossoms punch. I added a rhinestone and dimensionals to the back of the frame.

Out West They Are Patriotic

I find it hard to believe that it is already July 9. Where does the time go. This month I have very few birthdays so I am going to try to work on some Christmas cards. I know that time will be here before we know it and I usually make about 110 cards. This year I would like to spread that out a bit instead of trying to do them in about a week.

Looky here though. This card is for one of my July birthdays. My nephew has always liked cowboy things, he bought cowboy boots about 5 years ago and just enjoys wearing them so when I saw that Michelle Zindorf had made this card I just had to follow her tutorial. It's perfect for Tom. He turns 40 in just about a week and I know he'll like it.

It's my birthday today so I thought I would post one of my favorite Birthday cards.

When I first saw this set as a hostess set, just a year ago, I wasn't impressed. Isn't that typical, don't we want to see these stamps used in a project with actual ink on them before we fall in love with them. Well, when I saw this post on splitcoaststampers, it took my breath away and I had to give it a try. There this set sat on my shelf neglected of ink all this time and look what can be done with it. Here is another stamping 411 challenge. This one was harder for me than the others I have done but I'm glad I stuck with it. I think it turned out okay. I got to use several new (to me) items on this one. The Printed Petals and the Flower Garden embossing folders.

I cut all my pieces of card stock then ran them through the Big Shot with the respective ef and then sponged the image with like ink to make it stand out a little bit more.

Golf Anyone

The month of June always brings with it a lot of birthdays for me and my family. Both physical and spiritual families. I sent out quite a few cards this month but one that really strikes my eye for it's simplicity and impact is this one of the golf ball about to roll into the hole. My husband has played golf for many years, more than I'd like to say, yet he has never had a hole in one. His birthday is in August and he will be receiving a similar card to this but our friend Donald is an avid golfer and he got this card this month for his birthday.

I learned how to do this when I went to Michelle Zindorf's brayering class last August. What a fun filled day that was. She is a generous and patient teacher and what I learned I have retained as very useful information. I made this card off of one of her tutorials on her blog. She puts up about 3 tutorials a week as she travels so extensively. They are detailed in how to do them but you must know her brayering technique in order to get the same results as shown here or on her blog. I love the effect.

If you have ever tried to photograph a white card you will understand why I have a green piece of dsp behind this card. My photo box( where I put the cards to take their pictures) is totally white and the white base of the card just disappears into that background so adding the color makes the card pop.

This card was inspired by Mary Fish and her Stampin' Pretty blog.

Supplies:

Stamps: Fabulous Phrases, Day of Gratitude

Ink: Basic Black, Versamark

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry

Tools: Scallop Border Punch, 1 1/4 & 1 3/8" circle punch, Black buttons, clear embossing powder

I used very slim cuts of card stock to thread through the holes in the buttons to look like thread.

That's it, this card went together fairly quickly. I hope you like it.

This is an update since I posted this I got my new 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog and yay! Day of Gratitude is in the new catalog. I am thrilled about that. It was one of my most favorite sets to work with. As soon as I saw it in the Holiday Mini Catalog (fall 2010) I was drawn to that set. I even had a class one month where we made 4 projects all using Day of Gratitude. So check it out, it's a great set.

Stamping 411 challenge 207

Hello to everyone. It's time for another 411 challenge and this one came together fairly easy. I reached for my favorite colors, Pretty in Pink and Concord Crush, always has to be a purple in the mix.

Used a retiring dsp. bye bye Lap of Luxury, I have really enjoyed having you around. Used Baroque Motifs stamp set, the large and small scallop circle punch, the flower from Itty Bitty punch pak, and the Dotted Ribbon border punch, which makes any card stock into a neat little ribbon. I also crimped it for some added dimension. And bling, I love bling, the Basic Rhinestone in the middle of the flower should have a sparkle coming out of it. It does in real life.

If you have never tried making a card from a sketch you should. It's like cooking with a recipe or sewing with a pattern. Just add the fabric you want and viola a card comes out in no time. They even give you the dimensions of each layer. It's a lot of fun.

Green & Black Graduation

We had two graduations this year. One from high School and one from medical school. The green one is for the High Schooler. She had her graduation ceremony Sat. and we gave her this card. The other one is my sister in laws son who graduated from medical school in Galveston, TX. I hope they both enjoyed receiving these as much as I enjoyed making them. I don't know where the original idea came from but I've seen them around on various blogs. Let me know what you think.

Just seeing if you are paying attention. I know, it's Riding Hood Red not Robin Hood Red. that doesn't make sense. See this post Truth be told I was really tired last night when I made and posted the previous card and just took things off the top of my head. Then in the middle of the night I woke up and couldn't sleep because I thought "I posted that color as Robin Hood Red" Well, my face is red. So now you know. I'm not perfect but you probably already figured that out.

My First 411 Challenge

Okay, I'm excited. This is the first time I've done the 411 challenge over at Stamping 411 Check it out, they have some interesting stuff going on over there. Great directions for projects with detailed measurements too. And I am so happy with how this card turned out. Pictures never do any sort of craft justice but that's what we have here to share. There are a lot of firsts for me in this card.I had never used Robin Hood Red before and I just got this beautiful Ornate Blossom stamp so I wanted to put it to use. Wow, I just have to say WOW to both the stamp and the color. I will be using both a lot from now on. What a bold statement this flower makes.

Quilt Top is Finished

I gave you a sneak peak of this a while ago and wanted to show you what you can do with a little encouragement and some supplies. Now, you have to understand I am in no way a quilter or even a seamstress. That has been left, along with all the talent, to my sisters and mom. But Angela Kennedy over at Chic n Scratch made a video of how she made a quilt and I followed her instructions and this came out. I got a little help from my mom, just for direction on the borders but other than that it was all me. I am so happy with it and cannot wait to get it actually quilted. It will be dropped off at the quilter's house sometime and then returned to me in November. I have a spot reserved but she is so good that that is how much work she has lined up. and she works at it full time. She will do what she calls heirloom quilting so I will get a quality item back. Here it is with the border attached, what a difference.

The Stampin' Up Item I used was the Bigz clear Flower die. It cut through the fabric like butta eight layers at a time and it made me smile every time. Each of my flowers came out perfectly. It measures 47" x 61 1/2" so when completed it will cover me up to take a nap, when I get the chance.

I love the colors and it went together very easily. I would estimate that I spent a total of about eight hours all together on this. Well worth it.

Lap of Luxury Birthday

My grand niece turns 8 this month and she will be receiving this card with a little present tucked inside. This Lap of Luxury dsp has been one of my all time favorite papers to work with. I love purple and a whole stack of designs with purple as a main color in the form of Concord Crush has been a delight. And I am so happy that the In Colors get to hang around for another whole year. That is super. This is one of the items on the last chance accessories list so you have to act fast if you want your own beautiful paper to play with.

Also here you can see how the new Blossom Bouquet triple layer punch looks when it is set on all 3 layers. Makes a perfect center for the Bigz clear Flower die.
Also used is the branch from the 2-step Bird Punch and that is the Holly Jolly dsp you see.
I used the Itty Bitty Shape Punch Pak to get the small center of the flower
Then topped it off with a Basic Rhinestone.
The Curly Cute stamp set was usedalong with Concord Crush ink for the sentiment and curved with the bone folder.
To get that perfect end to the banner I cut a straight piece of Whisper White cardstock and used the corner of the 1 1/4" square punch to give it a nice tail.
It all sits on the base card of Pretty in Pink.

Animal Stories of all kinds

Just three more days for the scrapbooking special for the month of May. This card was made with the stamp set called Animal Stories. It is on special for 30% off the regular price. Don't miss out on it. I also used Circle Circus and Teeny Tiny Wishes. The kiss technique was used to get that pattern on the giraffe. First I inked it up with Apricot Apeal, then I inked up the bubbles stamp from Circle Circus and touched the rubber of the giraffe with it several times before stamping it onto Whisper White card stock.

Here is one made with the whale stamp from the same Animal Stories set. I added some glitter to the "water" to make it sparkle. Everything else is pretty self explanatory. I inked up the embossing folder before running the white cardstock through the Big Shot.

Here I used the owl out of the Animal Stories stamps and just repeated him 3x. Also using Circle Circus for the background.

And one last one is the elephant from the same set. Repeated in Positively Pink, Elegant Eggplant and Summer Sun

Shades of Just Believe with Shell border

This is quite a change from what I have been posting I actually made this card, actually I made 4 of these cards. Each one just a bit different I used a different border punch on each one. This one has a pretty shell border but any border punch can be used. I gave this card to my sister for her birthday. She loved it. What I did:

The base of the card is Pale Plum then the black panel was run throughThe Big Shot in the Textile embossing folder.
The Baja Breeze was punched with the shell border punch.
The main image panel was first stamped with Versamark ink and Just Believe largest stamp and sprinkled with black embossing powder and heated.
I sponged Pale Plum, Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery on the Whisper White
Then I direct to paper used Versamark all over it and used iridescent Ice embossing powder
backed it with the black and tied the ribbon.

Just One More Printed Petals

Okay, this is the last card I am posting using the Printed Petals stamp set. But I had to show you. These are so great. I love the set and this one with the stamped images then dry embossed through the Big Shot machine and the Square Lattice embossing folder is so pretty. Also the dsp has been run through and got it's embossing on too. Notice the build a brad detail along with the little tag. And the richness of Soft Suede, and Crumb Cake and then the pop of Tempting Turquiose is stunning.

So get this set while it's on special, there is only a couple of days left before it goes back to regular price. Then you can make all these beautiful cards too.

Stamp on Whisper White and then run it through the Big Shot and and embossing folder. In this case the Vintage Wallpaper ef was used, one of my favorites.
The bright and fresh colors are Poppy Parade and Baja Breeze along with So Saffron.

Simple sihouettes

Today I have a monocromatic card for you. I made two of these and sent them to two of my friends for their birthdays recently. They both seeemed to enjoy them.

It seems that these days I rarely make a card not using the Big Shot die cutting machine. It adds so much to any project with so little effort that it's hard to pass up.

I used Pale Plum card stock on this one (retired) and ran a piece of 4" X 5 1/4" through the Big shot using the Elegant Bouquet Embossing folder. Adhered it to the front of the card.
Then I stamped the Pocket Silhouette on a piece of scrap whisper white card stock and punched it out with the Curly Label punch.
I also punched out an area on the card front with the Curly Label punch and then adhered the white to the inner card exactly through the punched out area.
I put happy and birthday from Fabulous Phrases on one clear block and dipped it in Perfect Plum. Stamped right on top of the Silhouette
Added the white satin ribbon

I am working on a project right now that I will share with you when I have completed it and I have to say that it is my biggest most involved project that I have ever done and I am thrilled beyond belief with it so far. Here is a little sneak peek.

I can't wait to show it to you, so that spurs me on to complete it. You can probably recognize the Bigz clear flower die cuts but that's all I'm going to say for right now. Today I have a different sort of post. My friend Kye Ann called me today and talked to me about our monthly meeting tomorrow. We have a little card minstry at our church where we send out cards for each person we pray for on Wednesday nights. Well, we have enough cards for that right now so she suggested that we stamp cards tomorrow for From Our Hearts

If you are a Stampin' Up demonstrator you may have read the article in Success magazine for the month of May on Page 12 about this service. I think that is a wonderful idea. So I went to their website and read all about them. Now as you can see just to the right on my bar I have a link to them, which I will keep there. Right now it is on top.

Hapy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I gave this card to my mom several hours ago and she seemed to like it very much. I also gave her a hand stamped trivet using the Medallion stamp. I'll have to get a picture of that, I forgot too before I gave it to her.

The wing of the bird on the 2 step bird punch makes a great petal for these tulips, and a little sponging gives them some depth.
Lap of Luxury dsp was used along with Pretty In Pink for the card base.
The stems are also from the 2 step bird punch.
Teeny Tiny Wishes was used for the sentiment.

Punch Potpourri

Here is a completely different type of card then I have been posting lately. This is from the regular 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catlog and uses one of the Hostess Sets, Punch Potpourri. With this set you get a butterfly, a bird and a heart and also 3 cute little flowers and all of these coordinate with Stampin' Up's punches. I love the look of stamping and then punching them out. Mary Fish made a similar card to the one pictured here which used the Bird stamp and then was punched out with the large oval punch and trimmed on each end to form the vase. I love the modern look of this. I also used Just Believe stamp set for the flowers in the vase and the Retro Remix wheel for the background. Night of Navy card stock and ink was used for a monochromatic look. Although in the picture the ribbon looks like a different color it is navy ribbon, 1/4" grosgain.

Here is a picture of the inside of the card. I like to decorate the insides of all my cards but it is imperative when dark colored card stock is used for the base of the card.

Easter Bunnies

Here is a whole bunch of Easter Bunnies. I made these five little Easter Baskets for my five grand nieces. They love it when I have a special treat for them on special days. I used In Color dsp on these and punched out what I needed to create the faces. Now when they turn the baskets around they will see the tail end of the bunny.

Isn't that cute, the little tail.

This box is made with just a 6" square of card stock, scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides. Cut 2 of the score lines on the same side up to the intersecting score line. Then turn it to the other side and do the same. Fold sides up and glue to form the box. Add ribbon and dsp.

Here is a closeup of the bunny face. I used 1 3/4" circle punch for head, small oval for pink in ears and large for the white, 1/2" circle punch for the cheeks, sponged with pretty in pink and dotted with basic black marker. The 1/4" circle punch for the eyes in black and the nose in pink. The whiskers and mouth were drawn on with markers. Then white gel pen to highlight the eyes. Very easy.

Build a Blossom

Here is a little card I made after seeing Dannie Graves make a card on her blog. I love how this turned out. The Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder adds so much to the background paper, and the Scallop Trim Border adds another touch of detailing.
It's a snap to put this together using the Build a Blossom stamp set and the Blossom Petals punch, together they are an unbeatable combination. Both can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog that is good through April 30.
The three silver brads were very easy to line up, I used the dots on the paper.
The colors for the Card Stock are Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White
The ink colors are Melon Mambo and Old Olive
It measures 4 1/4" square.

Button, Button lots of Buttons

Today I have something a little different for you. These cards you see here are all from Cindy Fodor, my uplines, group. She sent them to me as swaps and I really appreciate it. I signed up under her but now live about 850 miles away. A little far to get together regularly. So it's such an encouragement to me when she sends me inspiration from the Joyful Heart Stampers.

I don't know who to give credit to for these but if you let me know who stamped them I would be glad to add their name.

All of these cards were stamped using the Buttons, Buttons set found in the Occasions Mini Catalog. Hurry and you still can order out of it until the end of April.

This is one of my favorites and I did a similar card after I received this one that can be found here. I thought it was striking.

This one is so simple but elegant. If I felt sick and received this in the mail I would be more then grateful, I would smile every time I looked at it. I love the color combo here.

Awash With Flowers

What an appropriate name for this stamp set. This is seen on page 99 in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog. I sort of passed over it when I saw it at first and then when I started seeing all the wonderful projects that were made with it I became the proud owner of this set. It is so simple to stamp the outline, which is bold and fine at the same time, and then simply stamp color in with the solid stamps that coordinate. This card went together in less than 5 minutes and it looks cute here but in real life it has a richness in color and depth that surprised me. Doesn't the frame of Marina Mist look wonderful around this little garden of flowers.

Inks: Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi

Narcissus for Easter

Easter is coming and I saw a card similar to this on Deesigns blog and just loved it. So last night our stamping group for our church got together and this is what I made. It will go to one of the veterans at the VA hospital here in town for Easter. I hope that it brightens his day.

What I used:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Sayings and Four Frames
Inks: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Paper: Pumpkin Pie cs, Dafodil Delight cs, Whisper White cs
Tools: Decorative Label punch, Boho Blossoms punch, 5 Petal Flower punch, Scallop oval punch
Accessories: Soft Subtles brads

For the centers of the flowers I crunched up the card stock really well and kept working it until it was soft enough to form and then glued each to the center of the flower.

Canvas Tote Bags

A while ago the women at church where I attend had a canvas bag decorating get together. My daughter was in town so we decided to go. The afternoon of the class we took some time and cut out some beautiful fabric that my mom had given to me with the Big Shot and several dies. Mine is the ivory bag with the turquiose and purple cutouts and Cindy's, my daughter, is the olive bag with red, purple and turquiose circles. We had a great time and everyone loved what we brought to iron on our bags. First we had backed them with fabric adhesive so all we needed to do was arrange them and iron them on. Very simple. I also used the big buttons from the Holiday mini and a large silver circle brad. All of Cindy's "dots" are small colored brads. I think they turned out great.

There was a similar card sent to me by my upline, Cindy Fodor, so I'm not sure who made it but I cased it and this is what I came up with.

I used the Circle Circus stamp set to get the main image panel. They were stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then sponged in Early Espresso ink, a grid was stamped on top in Black stazon ink .
The Black Card and the Vanilla panel were both run through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder then sponged with Early Espresso ink. The Vanilla panel was also edge with the Eyelet Border Punch onc of my favorites
With Sympathy from Teeny Tiny Wishes set was stamped in black and punched out with the modern label punch and another black one was also punched out and moved over to the left. A pearl from Basic Jewels was added on the end right there and also 3 pearls were added to the main image panel.

I hope you like this card. It is very striking in real life and the texture just doesn't come through on the picture the way I wish it could but I sent this to a friend of mine who lost her mother recently. I pray it brought her a little bit of comfort.

When I make a card that is designed by Michelle Zindorf I feel like a real artist. She is so talented and shares her tutorials with everyone so I occassionally make one of her cards. It always gets ooowws and aaaahhhs when I give it away. Saturday my son will turn 30 years old, don't ask me where the time has gone, but he will receive this for his birthday card with a nice surprise inside. He is an artist so I hope he enjoys this a great deal.

Spring is Coming Soon

It took me a long time to get the lattice die for the Big Shot. Now I wish I would have ordered it a long time ago. If you don't have this die you are missing out on a whole world of style that is available for a small cost. This card is very little stamping but a whole lot of punching.

This is what was used. 2 3/8" scallop circle , Boho Blossoms, 1/2" circle, 1 1/4" circle, scallop oval, small oval, Dotted ribbon border all punches from Stampin' Up and the Lattice die and also the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
Teen Tiny Wishes supplied the sentiment and Garden Green ink was used to stamp it. The Card Stock is Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip

Orange Bliss

This is a card that my upline, Cindy Fodor, sent to me. Isn't it beautiful.She made this card with the Bliss Saleabration set. It's one of those FREE items that you can get with just a $50 order of Stampin' Up products. There are over 50 stamp sets that you can choose from and Designer Series Paper pack and there is even a Button and Ribbon package that you can choose.

Also used the Duo Scallop Square die that was featured in the Holiday Mini catalog but is still available. It makes two easy scallop squares in a snap with the Big Shot.
The scallop square punch along with the 1 1/4" square and the 1 3/8" square punches were used
And the Boho Blossoms punch to get that cute little flower with the brad in the middle
Isn't the ribbon adhered to the card in a unique way

For You in Poppy

As we get closer to the end of March you may be thinking more and more about those FREE items that you can get with just a $50 order of Stampin' Up products. It uses So Saffron card stock along with Basic Black, Poppy Parade and Bashful Blue
The card stock inside the Black rectangle was stamped with a little background stamp using Versamark ink which leaves a watermark on any color card stock.
The Scallop Circle For You stamp was inked with Bashful Blue then the stem was colored with the Old Olive marker, as well as the flowers with Poppy Parade marker and the For You with Basic Black marker
Then the flowers were stamped again in Poppy on Whisper White and cut out and popped up with demensionals.
A pretty Poppy ribbon tied around the rectangle finished it off.

St. Patty's Day

Almost everywhere I see a St. Patrick's Day card I hear "I don't have any or many St. Patrick's Day stamps". Well, it never has been a huge sending cards kind of holiday. But if you have a heart punch you can make a 3 or 4 leaf clover.

I used Garden Green card stock for the base of the card which took a trip through the Big Shot riding inside the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder. They make the best impressions.
To make the clover I punched out 4 hearts using the Full Heart Punch. I also punched out a 1 1/4" circle, covered it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue then stuck the hearts to that to give it somewhere to sit. Then pierced a hole with paper piercer for the Jumbo White Brad and adhered it to the card with a glue dot. Those little dudes are strong.
Used the Wide Oval Punch on Whisper White cs after stamping Good Luck in Garden Green ink from the stamp set Sincere Salutations.

Do you remember last year before the new 2010-2011 idea book and catalog came out, before the "upsetting" color renovation happened. There was panic in the streets when that came about. Now, we love, love, love the new colors and cannot imagine going back. Well, before all that took place I made my friend Kye Ann a birthday card. I met her at church and she takes part in a group called the Linus Project. That organization provides blankets to local hospitals to provide them to children patients. So when I learned how to make this type of card I thought of her and went ahead and made her this birthday card. She will receive it today. Even though the card stock and dsp are retired I hope she likes it.

Cameo Coral card stock was used as the base for the card.
A Top Note was made through the Big Shot and using the Top Note Die
1 1/4" square punch on the designer series paper
The squares made from retired Spring Flowers dsp (2006-2007) were then adhered to the Top Note with Anywhere Glue Stick
The stitching was added with the Chocolate Chip marker
Scallop Square punch was used on Chocolate Chip card stock
A beautiful K was stamped with Lovely Letters stamp set on Very Vanilla Card Stock and Chocolate Chip ink then punched out with the 1 1/4" square punch
Both the letter square and the finished Top Note were lightly sponged with Chocolate Chip ink
The bow was added by using 1/4" Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon

It's a card that is impressive and once you have the technique down it goes fairly quickly.

Another added step you can do, which I learned about after I made this card, is once the Top Note is covered with dsp and the "stitches" have been taken it can be run through the Big Shot again using one of many of the Embossing Folders. The Finial Press, Wallpaper, Square Lattice to make it look even more quilted.

For You, Clean and Simple

This card is very easy to make but it is really pretty and if you wanted to add some ribbon to doll it up a bit more you could certainly do that very easily.

I just started with a piece of Old Olive cs 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 and folded it in half.
ran a piece of 1 3/4 x 4 7/8 Tempting Turquoise cs through the Big Shot inside the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder then rounded the corners. Backed it with another piece of 2 x 5 1/4 Tempting Turquoise cs.
Used Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry markers to ink up the stamp and then punched it out with the Scallop circle punch and popped it on the card using dimensionals
Tip: Lightly sponge the polka dots with Tempting Turquoise ink to give them more definition

This was made using the set Punch Bunch stamp set, which is available for FREE with a $50 order from Stampin' Up

Here is another card made with the Punch Bunch set. It's one of the items you can choose for FREE with a $50 purchase of Stampin' Up products this month. This set has 5 stamps and they all coordinate with one of the punches SU has to offer.

As you can see here the true friend button on this card is another stamp in the set that is easily punched out with the 1" circle punch. This card was made with the woodland dsp and pacific point and melon mambo card stock and ink. The 2 step bird punch provides the branch the owls are perched on.

Happy Birthday Punch Bunch Box

Here is a 3-D project that will take only about 5 minutes. It is so very simple but it can be used for Birthday, using the stamp from the Punch Bunch shown here, or how about an Easter Basket using the For You stamp from the same set. The Punch Bunch stamp set is so versatile and all of the stamps coordinate with one of the Stampin' Up punches which make for a quick cut out of the stamped image. and best of all you cannot buy this set. Oh, but you can get it FREE. with a qualifying purchase from Stampin' Up. Just a $50 order and you can choose to have this set for FREE. Don't you just love FREE.

First you take a 6" x 6" piece of card stock, in this case basic grey
Score it at 2" on all sides. crease those fold lines.
On one side cut both score lines up to the intersecting score line. Do that again on the opposite side.
Add adhesive and fold up to form your box.
Then add dsp, the stamped HB block, with dimensionals, in basic grey ink which has been punched out with the scallop square punch
Use your crop a dile to go through the 3 layers of card stock on the sides and add a ribbon held on with a silver brad.

Night Bird Zindorf Style

I love this card. I totally cased it from Michelle Zindorf but when I am able to make something that turns out like this I am so happy. I got the chance to go to one of her workshops in October and have been so thrilled that I did that. I learned a lot that day and came home with three beautiful cards and the ability to make as many as I want. She has a unique way of using the brayer.

Mask off the moon by punching a circle and then moving the punch to get the crescent moon shape on a post it note and applying it to the whisper white card stock before the brayering is done. Remove it and you have a nice bright moon.
The two step bird punch is turned into a cardinal by adding that little piece of black card stock by her eye. Then sponge black on the bottom of the bird and the wing and highlight the top with the white gel pen.

Vanessa Purse

Here is something you can do that is so easy I was able to do it. Make this purse in one hour. Using the Big Shot Die Cut machine and the bigz clear die SCALLOP SQUARE these fabric pieces got cut out in record time. You are able to cut eight layers of cotton fabric all at once. Just cut the fabric 5" wide and then fold it at 5" intervals until you get eight layers. Lay it on the die between two acrylic cutting pads and run it through. Every time I do this I get a big smile on my face. It is so much fun.

Then follow directions here and before you know it you have an actual purse.

Make sure you watch all the videos on how to do this before you start. I used only 4 squares per side instead of six as these purses were for young girls, which made them the perfect size.

Tip: If you know any quilters, they are probably over run with extra fabric. They may be willing to part with enough to make one of these purses. It really doesn't take that much fabric.

St. Patty's Day Cake

Every year at our Church we have a day to celebrate all of the birthdays for the entire year. Twelve people make a cake each, one for each month, and bring them to share. We have a meal and then we taste the cake of our birthday month and then we can taste any other cake we like. This is the cake I took last year.

I used the FULL HEART EXTRA LARGE PUNCH to punch 3 heart negatives and put them together to form a shamrock.
I used my craft knife to free hand the stem
then I carefully laid the template I had made on the cake and sprinkled green colored sugar on it. I pressed it in slightly and lifted off the template.
Then I sprinkled very lightly a little more sugar over the whole cake

The cake tasted yummy too. I tinted a white cake green and people told me they tasted mint. We are so influenced by what we see. I used cream cheese frosting, my favorite.

Build a Blossom TOY

Build a Blossom stamp set and Blossom Petal punch is turning into a favorite of mine. It's so easy to use and the results are dramatic.

Here I have started out with whisper white card stock and stamped the base blossom in pretty in pink
then rich razzleberry on top of that for the details in the petals.
Old Olive card stock was run through the big shot with the perfect polka dots embossing folder.

Elizabeth in Concord Crush

The Elizabeth Stamp is just one of the many stamps you can get for FREE during sale a bration. You may have missed this stamp it is found on page 18 and it is one of the single stamps that Stampin' Up has to offer. It is so elegant and it doesn't need much help because it looks like a winner by itself.

This card is so simple to make but makes a big impact. It is even more striking in real life and the color combination is lovely. I reversed them and this is what you get.

One little stamp, well two, and an embossing folder and a punch and you have a beautiful card. You can change out the sentiment with any Teeny Tiny Wish for versatility. I used the trio flower punch which is retired but you could use the Boho Blossoms punch or the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack and you'll be set. Add a little bling with Basic Gems pearls or rhinestones and voila, ready to be sent to a lucky recipient.

Blown away hearts

I love this card and I made it, sometimes we surprise even ourselves. Last year I had the priveledge of attending a Michelle Zindorf brayer class and I learned her technique of brayering. I check her blog once in a while and cased this card from there. It's not hard you just have to know how to do it. It was a three hour class so for me to explain it to you would not be practical.

I am giving this card to my grand niece this weekend. Her birthday is on Valentine's Day and this would make a great Valentine card also with just a change of sentiment.

Night of Navy ink for the center and accent on the strip
Eyelet border punch was used for both the DD strip and the card stock weight vellum layer, which was run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.
Old Olive card stock got used for the little leaves
